CLEVA CRETE was born from more than four decades of experience in the construction industry; but the story about CLEVA CRETE's origin comes from something far more personal.
Founder David Autengruber began his career as a builder over 45 years ago. Throughout that time, his focus was always the same: creating structures that would stand the test of time, perform as intended, and leave a legacy for the people who use them.
Like many builders, David understood that no matter how carefully a project was designed or constructed, concrete remained vulnerable to moisture, shrinkage, cracking, and deterioration. These challenges often appeared long after construction was complete, impacting durability, maintenance costs, and the long-term performance of buildings and infrastructure.

For many years, these were simply accepted as industry realities.
Then life changed.
Following the heartbreaking loss of his young son after a battle with cancer, David found himself reassessing what truly mattered. The experience created a profound shift in perspective. He found himself driven by a profound shift in perspective:
"How can I use this experience to shift change in a space that I know?"
Rather than slowing down, he set out on a global search for construction solutions; particularly non-carcinogenic materials and safer building practices, that will help create a healthier and more protective built environment for future generations. He travelled extensively, researching emerging technologies and engaging with scientists, engineers, universities, and material specialists around the world. Along the way, he explored innovations aimed at reducing environmental impact, extending asset life, and improving the performance and safety of construction materials.
One technology stood out.
Hydrogel-based concrete technology resonated deeply with David because it aligned perfectly with his lifetime of building experience. Here was a solution that could fundamentally improve the way concrete behaves by protecting concrete, reducing shrinkage and cracking, controlling moisture movement, increasing durability, and helping structures last exceedingly longer.

But there was another challenge.
David was determined that any solution brought to market should be manufactured responsibly, using clean, ethically sourced materials and Australian supply chains. Rather than relying on imported systems, he worked to develop products that could be produced in Australia using Australian raw materials and Australian expertise.
The result was CLEVA CRETE.
Today, CLEVA CRETE delivers advanced admixture technology designed to enhance concrete performance, durability, moisture proofing, waterproofing, and service life. This technology draws inspiration from centuries-old principles of durable concrete construction while applying modern material science to meet the demands of contemporary infrastructure.
Our Products are now used across commercial, civil, industrial, water-retaining, and infrastructure projects throughout Australia, helping designers, builders, and asset owners achieve longer-lasting, more resilient structures.
