CLEVA CRETE 842 WP is an admixture that is formulated for the commercial and industrial sectors to diminish moisture/chemical ingress/egress and is suited for specialised concrete in extreme pH environments whenever superior durability, water proofing, extended service life, chemical resistance and densification are demanded.

The admixture is introduced into the concrete matrix at the batch plant or onsite into the concrete trucks through the chute.

Its inclusion disrupts the normal capillary formation as concrete cures, forming a permanent moisture barrier for the life of the concrete. This admixture has an extra few ingredients, to deal with moisture vapour ingress AND egress.

Specifically designed for extreme pH applications to eliminate problematic moisture vapour egress/ingress.

The final result is an extremely stable, long lasting and durable construction material that will stand the test of time for many years to come.

HOW IS MOISTURE VAPOUR AN ISSUE IN GENERAL CONSTRUCTION?

Concrete is the most stable of all construction materials but in any piece of concrete, millions of tiny bleed water tubes called capillaries are formed during the plastic stage due to the ‘free water’ (water added into the mix that is not necessary for hydration) floating to the top as it is the lightest variable in the concrete mix. These resultant capillaries cause all the major and significant issues in the flooring sector since the introduction of low VOC, water-based adhesives.

When using CLEVA CRETE admixtures, the usual ‘free water’ in the mix is retained within the concrete, and converted into C–S–H gel, reducing shrinkage, and ensuring insignificant to no future permeability. Having no capillaries throughout the slab means there is no egress/ingress of moisture vapours, which is the reason for early onset of concrete cancer.

TECHNOLOGY HISTORY

This technology has been utilised in the US and Europe to completely resolve the moisture issues in concrete for over thirty-five years. It was originally used by the Romans for the last three centuries for most major projects i.e. Colosseum, the Pantheon Roof and Aqueducts, and rediscovered in the early 1900’s by the American Army Corp of Engineers for the Hoover Dam project that has a 1000-year design life.

There are currently over 250 major hospitals and more than 1,200 additional private buildings that have utilised this technology to successfully build outstanding and long-lasting structures.

In Australia, CLEVA CRETE 842 WP was introduced to the Australian market in 2020 after nine years of extensive R&D into the correct formulations for the Australian market, using Australian only raw materials.

It has been used on a wide number of different projects including plant rooms, levy banks, undercroft carparks and surf clubs.

WE’RE POURING A ROOFTOP PLANT ROOM, WHAT ADMIXTURE WOULD YOU RECOMMEND WE USE?

CLEVA CRETE 842 WP is the ideal admixture for any concrete roof on a multi-storey building. The reason is that due to the nature of the admixture it simply will not allow any moisture to seep through the concrete. The result of ultra-low permeable concrete suits a rooftop as many topical elastomeric coatings will eventually break down and leave the concrete exposed. Having 842 WP in your concrete slab ensures that the concrete slab will not be moisture ridden.

THIS PROJECT IS IN SEA WATER, WILL YOUR PRODUCT HANDLE THE ALKALINITY?
